Meet Deluge — our first body wash, and like everything on The Nordic Altar, it does more than its name suggests. This isn't a shower gel that strips you clean and leaves your skin tight. It's a treatment that happens to lather: skincare for the parts of your body your serums never reach.
Why most body washes let you down
Ordinary washes lean on harsh sulfates for big foam. They clean, but they strip the skin's own oils and leave it dry and tight — and on the back, chest and shoulders, prone to the rough, bumpy, breakout-prone patches most people just learn to live with. Deluge takes the opposite approach.
The working ingredient: 0.5% salicylic acid
Deluge is built around 0.5% salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that clears into the pore and lifts away the dead skin and excess oil behind rough texture and body breakouts. Used daily in the shower, it keeps the skin on your back, chest and shoulders smoother and clearer — the classic trouble zones that are hard to reach and easy to neglect.
Sulfate-free, and gentle by design
Instead of sulfates, Deluge uses a mild blend of Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Coco-Glucoside and Cocamidopropyl Betaine for a soft, creamy lather at a skin-friendly pH of 5.0–5.5. It cleanses thoroughly without stripping, so you step out clean and comfortable — never squeaky and tight.
It conditions while it cleanses
What makes Deluge behave like skincare is the active stack that stays on the skin after rinsing: Ectoin to hold water and steady the barrier, Centella (Cica) and Allantoin to calm, and Panthenol and Hydrolyzed Silk to soften and condition. The result is skin that feels looked-after, not laundered.
The scent
Deluge is finished with a bright, masculine citrus-fresh blend — lemon verbena, bergamot and sweet orange lifted with a crack of black pepper, resting on a woody vetiver-and-cedar base. Fresh enough to wake you up, grounded enough to feel considered.
How to use
Massage a small amount over wet skin in the shower, then rinse. Use daily, and give it a few weeks on rough, breakout-prone areas — the back, chest and shoulders — to see the texture settle.
